Can adults come to class?

Yes. You Can Dance Academy is for all ages. Classes are grouped by style and recommended age ranges — book the class that fits you or your family member. If you are unsure which class to try, contact Abi and the team before booking a taster.

Free car park at Blaby & District Social Centre & Village Hall, Leicester Road, Blaby, Leicester, LE8 4GQ. Please arrive a few minutes early so everyone is ready to start.

Comfortable clothes you can move in (leggings or joggers, t-shirt). Bare feet or dance shoes are fine. Bring a water bottle. Hair tied back for safety.

Spark (recommended ages 3–7): can someone stay in the room?

For Spark, a parent or carer may stay in the room if extra reassurance is needed — especially for younger dancers in the first few weeks. Please chat with Abi and the team if you have specific needs.

Taster classes and refunds

Book a taster on ClassManager, or request one from Book & enrol in the member portal. Trials are non-refundable — please only book if the dancer can attend. If a class is full, join the waiting list in the portal.

Where is the training guide?

After you sign in, open Training guide in the portal or app menu. You only see steps for your role — member, supporting member, staff, or admin.

Where are your privacy and terms?

Open Legal & policies from the website footer or the member app (home screen or sign-in). You will find our Privacy policy, Data collection practices, Trademark notice, and Terms of use.

Can grandparents or carers get class updates too?

Yes. In your portal under Dancers, add people to your support network. They receive emails for the updates you choose, and can accept an invite to sign in and see the same classes, videos, and calendars.

Can dancers listen to class music at home?

Yes. Open Class music in your member portal or app for Spotify and Apple Music links your teacher adds for your class — great for practising before class.

What if we cannot attend this week?

Use the member portal to mark a dancer as not attending this week. Abi and the team receive a heads-up so we do not worry when someone is missing from class.

When you add a dancer in the portal, we ask for an emergency contact (name, mobile, and relationship). This is only visible to YCDA staff if we need to reach someone else during class.

Additional needs or access requirements

You can add optional notes for Abi and the team — for example allergies, medical needs, sensory or mobility support, or anxiety triggers. Update these any time under Your dancers in your portal.

After enrolment, missed-class fees and payment options are in Billing in your portal or app.

Spark

Recommended 3–7 years

Inclusive dance and play — creative movement for early years and families. All welcome; contact Abi and the team if you are outside this age range.

4:30 pm–5:15 pm

Ignite

Recommended 5–11 years

Inclusive dance with games and choreography — ideal for school-age dancers. Teens and adults in this style are welcome — speak to Abi and the team first.

5:15 pm–6:00 pm

Shine

Recommended 12+ years

Inclusive dance for teens and adults — stronger choreography and performance skills in a supportive group.

6:00 pm–6:45 pm

Broadway Workout

Adults 17–100

Perfect for former dancers and musical theatre enthusiasts. You'll get to dance to the big show tunes with other like-minded people and get fit!

Taster £5.00 · £20.00/month

6:15 pm–7:00 pm

GLOW

Ages 5–11 (SEND)

Inclusive dance class for children between 5–11 years with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This class is for children that are able to engage in small group activities / follow spoken instructions with the support from a teacher.

Meet the team

Hello, I'm Abi

Founder & Principal Dance Teacher

I am Founder and Principal Dance Teacher of You Can Dance Academy!
I have many years of experience teaching dance to children.
I coached and performed in the University Pom Cheer team. We competed in regional and national competitions!
I am also a qualified Speech and Language Therapist. I support children and young people with their communication skills within mainstream and special schools.

I can't wait to welcome you all to the dance family!

Hello, I'm Emma

Principal Dance Teacher

I am the principal dance teacher at You Can Dance Academy.
I have 15+ years of experience in dancing and performing and am trained in Ballet, Modern and Musical Theatre.
I hold a first class degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Chichester where I performed in numerous well-known productions and starred in a World Premiere.

I can't wait to welcome you all to the dance family!
